About
Long sessions are part of my consulting work: full days, sometimes two in a row, with technical slides in English and the talk sometimes in the audience’s own language. That asks more of a slide tool than a one-hour talk does. While preparing one such workshop, 150 slides with one night to fold day one’s input into day two, I built myself an HTML slide-authoring and presenter tool on the side, made to work with AI agents.
It was Python and JavaScript running a local web server: the audience slide in one browser window; the presenter slide, notes and lookups in another; and a feedback loop with Claude, where I marked what was wrong and it revised. I’m the one presenting, so every slide has to be mine; the question is only how much effort that takes. The ad-hoc stack didn’t bother me. I had a real job to do, delivering the workshop, and the tool helped immensely; I couldn’t imagine preparing and running those two days in PowerPoint. That’s when it struck me that others could use a tool like this too.
But for anyone else it had to install and open like any other Mac app, with no runtime to set up and no server to start. So I rebuilt it as one. No line of code from that first tool made it in: Deckmate was re-engineered from scratch, with substantial effort in the RAIVEN agentic lab. A field report on how is coming.
